An Immersive Transmedia Project On
2025 September - On Going
Youth Radicalisation and Online Echo Chamber
Counter Cult is a second year immersive experiential group exploring the social issues surrounding youth radicalisation and online echo chambers. Our work focuses on creating spaces where young audiences can critically engage with the digital environments that shape their everyday lives.
Our main project examines the effects of echo chambers and extremism in gaming spaces, and how ideological extremism can subtly permeate these online communities. In the 21st century, where screen time among young people is at an all time high, the over-saturation of negative or polarising spaces has become almost inevitable. Radicalisation rarely happens in a single moment; instead, it emerges through a gradual accumulation of small, seemingly ordinary choices.
This makes Counter Cult's themes deeply intertwined with the lived experiences of our generation.
Through immersive, cross‑media experience design, our project transforms invisible algorithmic processes into tangible, interactive encounters. By guiding audiences through a multi‑stage narrative, we help them intuitively understand how echo chambers form, how identity becomes shaped by digital environments, and how individuals and systems continuously influence one another.
Our goal is to encourage reflection, awareness, and critical thinking, inviting audiences to reconsider the digital spaces they inhabit and the unseen forces that shape their perspectives.
